 Anthurium, painted in Grenada W.I.

I studied at Harrow School of Art where I did a foundation course then a further three years in fine art. I worked in a large department store in Oxford Street as a window dresser and illustrator. I also worked for some years as a portrait painter while also working in a private school in Wembley as an art teacher.

My great-grand father came from Hanover to paint some frescoes for Prince Albert during the 19th century and married an English woman. Amongst his grand children was Edgar Dell who went to Australia and became a botanical painter where he illustrated the encyclopaedia 'Flowers of Western Australia' amongst others, which is still in use.

I first studied botanical art in 1993 when I saw an advertisement for classes at The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew under the renowned Annie Farrer and have also taken lessons with Coral Guest, Jenny Brazier and at the Chelsea Physic Garden with Pandora Sellers. I went to live in Grenada W.I. in 2000 where I taught art to the children in the Anglican School in Sauteurs and gave lessons in my home there and sold many paintings of the plants I painted on the island in the ArtGrenada Gallery.
